How is American InterContinental University accredited?
American InterContinental University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees. This umbrella accreditation includes the following branch campuses of the University: AIU Buckhead; AIU Dunwoody; AIU South Florida; AIU London; AIU Houston; AIU Los Angeles; AIU Online (originating in Illinois); and American University in Dubai.

What are the AIU Study Abroad Special Destinations Programs like?
Each year, the AIU Study Abroad Program offers unique opportunities for students to immerse themselves in the history, culture and lifestyle of some of the world's most dynamic cities.

Programs of study are career-focused and provide students with opportunities to absorb real-world learning experiences in industries such as business, fashion, visual communication, media production and many others.

Who teaches the Special Destinations programs?
AIU London faculty and staff teach the courses in our Special Destinations programs. Each program is designed to capitalize on the business practices, culture and resources that are available and unique to the destination city, which have included Tokyo, Madrid, Paris, Florence and Tuscany, Cape Town and many others.

How are the AIU Study Abroad learning programs structured?
In the AIU Study Abroad Program, students are regarded as partners in the learning process. The instruction provided can best be characterized as "Anglo-American." Faculty members teach wholly within the AIU curriculum, but their scholarly and theoretical approach of an international education will often assume and encourage more student autonomy than is the case in many American universities.

What kind of people can I expect to meet in the Study Abroad Program?
One of AIU's greatest strengths is its global perspective. The AIU London student body is made up from over 80 nationalities, which means you can gain a broader knowledge and understanding of global issues when you study at our university. The teaching staff is also from all over the world and brings a rich diversity of ideas and professional experience to each classroom.

What types of cultural activities will be schedule throughout my stay?
A comprehensive study abroad experience extends beyond the classroom, exposing you to a wide array of cultural events and historical venues. Each term, the AIU Cultural Activities Team plans a wide range of events to immerse you in the rich history of your chosen destination. Activities are designed to complement and enhance the experiences gained in the classroom.

Who will help me get acclimated to my new surroundings?
From the time you submit your application until the time you board your plane, the U.S.-based AIU Study Abroad team will be with you every step of the way as you make important decisions about your Study Abroad experience. They will provide helpful information on credit transfer issues, financial matters, internships, housing arrangements and much more as you prepare for your journey.

Once you arrive at your destination, AIU Student Services staff will work diligently to help you feel welcome and secure in your new environment so that you can excel academically and develop new friendships. Some of the services provided by the AIU Student Services staff include:

  • On-site advisors who provide assistance with academic matters.
  • On-site counselors who are available 24/7 to assist students with personal issues.
  • Activity Directors who coordinate an array of cultural and travel opportunities.
  • Sports Directors who coordinate fitness and recreational activities.
  • Housing Coordinators who arrange student housing and maintenance.
  • Disabilities Services Coordinators who make reasonable arrangements for students with physical and learning disabilities.
